20th October 2018 Concert. What a wonderful event, such beautiful singing, £683.95 raised for Emmaus Trust. The tremendous power of singing. Well done to all.

Christmas Tree Festival

The elves have now decorated the tree.

Here are some photographs – it looks brilliant I think. (So are the elves).

Go and have a look at it in real life.

Of course none of it could have happened without inspirational management – that’s where I came in. Here I am doing what I do best – eating cake.

Christmas decorations

A few days ago a number of the Just Sing! Christmas elves got together to make decorations for our Christmas tree which will be on display at the Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s church from Saturday.

Here are some pictures of them hard at work, and of the results of their labours.

Why not go along to the Festival and have a look at them on the tree?

The decorations that is not the elves.

Choirs are good for you!

Here are a couple of links to articles in yesterday’s Times about the benefits and joys of singing in choirs.

I’m sure everyone at Just Sing agrees.

Wedding photographs

Here are a few photographs from the choir’s performance at Ruth Rush’s wedding.

Excellent singing today

Some really great singing today by the choir. In particular, the Israeli song, which  went down really well. Should you wish to look it up on Youtube,  its called Hewenu Shalom. More great singing next time. We will have a harpist who is playing with us, so be sure to come along. I assure you, a choir and a harp is a truly magical sound, and also quite rare. Best wishes, Peter

New Year

After a 4-week break for Christmas and New Year it was great to be back at Just Sing! this morning.

And what a turn out! 61 singers – which is 5 more than the previous record turn out. Lovely to se some younger singers there too.

We made good progress with learning some new songs and returning to some old favourites.  Today was a love songs day as we learn the numbers we will be performing at the wedding of one of our choir members – Ruth Rush – on 18 February.

Among today’s repertoire:

‘One Hand, One Heart’ (Leonard Bernstein) – from West Side Story

‘The Glory of Love’  (Billy Hill) – as sung by Bette Midler in Beaches

‘Keep you in Peace’ (Sarah Morgan)

Looking forward to our next session already

Radio Newark

Very late notice but  Choir Director, Peter Higgins, and I will be on Radio Newark tonight just after 6 talk about the choir and promote our appearance in the Carol Concert at London Road Congregational Church on Monday evening.

You can listen live by clicking here or on 107.8 FM and now on DAB too.

If you miss us perhaps they will have it on catch up later.

You will see at the bottom of the homepage that there are testimonials – these are comments made by choir members about their experience of the choir. Every time someone looks at the site the testimonials change on a random basis.

If you have something you would like to share with the world about how good you think Just Sing! is why not leave a brief comment (see link below) including your name and I will add it to the list.

The idea is that these testimonials might encourage other people to join our ever-expanding and developing choir.

Christmas Concert

The Choir will be singing at London Road Congregational Church’s annual Christmas Carol Concert on Monday 05 December 2106.

The Concert will also have plenty of opportunity for community singing of some favourite carols.

The concert starts at 7.00 p.m. and is free to enter. There will be a collection for Beaumond House Hospice. We hope to beat the total raised last year which was over £500.

JustSing will perform : Rutter; The Colours of Christmas, A Venezuelan Carol; Away in a Manger, to a  traditional Normandy tune.
